The father of a young woman who died when her plane crashed into the Hudson River was in hospital last month.
The accident took place last Wednesday on the tarmac of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, near New York City, when the Boeing 767-200 aircraft lost contact with ground traffic in a crowded area of New Jersey.
The plane was carrying 26 passengers, six of them children, and seven crew members.
It crashed at 6:22am (0422 GMT) on a runway at Newark Liberty International Airport near Newark, New Jersey in a small plane.
According to preliminary reports, the plane’s wing hit the water about 40 metres below the water line and overturned.
A fire broke out in the cabin, but the cause of death has not yet been established.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation.
The agency has also launched a public awareness campaign, which calls on families and loved ones of passengers on the plane to tell their stories.
A family of seven in New York who were travelling from Delhi to New Jersey were travelling with their son, his girlfriend and their two children, according to the family’s statement.
Their plane crashed in the New Jersey Hudson River, causing severe injuries to the passengers, the statement said.
A man who was with the couple, named in the statement as Bimal Singh, died at the hospital, the family said.
