The National Association of School Boards has released a new set of plans for schools across the country that will allow parents to buy their own cell phone plans in an effort to boost enrollment and to encourage school choice.
The plan, called Verizon Prep Plus, is a partnership between the National Association for School Boards and the National Education Association (NEA).
The NEA, along with the National Council of La Raza, are two of the nation’s largest school advocacy organizations.
In addition to offering parents more options, Verizon plans to offer a new, simplified smartphone-to-school plan called Verizon Plus.
The plan is expected to cost about $30 per month and offers unlimited talk, text, and data, plus unlimited minutes.
It also offers an option for the purchase of a smartphone with an in-house carrier that will give students a discount on the monthly cost of the plan.
Verizon also will offer a $5.99 per month “paid wireless device” plan, which will offer the same number of wireless devices as the standard plan.
This plan will cost $15 per month for unlimited talk and text, plus $5 per month if you want a phone that can use your own SIM card.
Verizon will also offer a “dedicated wireless service” plan that will cost the same as the basic plan but offer a higher monthly rate.
Verizona’s plans, which are still being finalized, are expected to be available in the coming weeks, and parents can register for them by visiting www.verizon.com/prepplus.
Verity also plans to expand the use of mobile technology in classrooms.
The company is looking to offer mobile apps to school districts that will offer lessons in digital learning, including video lessons and audio lessons, to students in grades 6 through 12.
In its announcement, the NEA said that the expanded use of digital technology in schools would help teachers improve instruction, promote learning and support student development.
The association has also partnered with schools to develop an “all-inclusive digital learning curriculum,” which includes multimedia, audio and video lessons.
Verzion has also created a mobile app for teachers called SmartSchool.
It has a “mobile learning platform” that offers teachers a “digital classroom” that includes a tablet and a smartphone that can be used for video lessons, and it can also teach students how to use their own tablet to access the app.
Verizons plans to launch a video-based online course called SmartStories, which is meant to teach students about the science and math behind the universe.
The school has partnered with NASA to help teach students in the U.S. how to access a solar-powered device that can help them learn about the solar system.
